China Herb Wheezing Cough Formula (Zhi Ke Ding Chuan Wan)

Wheezing Cough Formula is a prescription for the treatment of chronic cough and asthma symptoms that are characterized by thick yellow Phlegm. Chinese medicine believes that the Lung governs Qi and respiration. Cough and asthma are the results of the failure of disseminating and descending of Lung Qi. The cause of the problems may be the invasion of the Lung system by external pathogens or the dysfunction of the internal organs and the Lung affected by internal pathogens. The problem is in the Lungs but may be related to the Liver and Spleen or to the Kidney if it is in a prolonged case. Phlegm is the main pathological product that obstructs Lung Qi. Phlegm is divided into Heat Phlegm and Cold Phlegm.
